About DEAR HEART, I HATE YOU:

I didn’t plan on him.

Or for him.

Or anything that had to do with Cal Donovan from Boston.

Meeting him had been a complete and utter surprise, taking me one hundred percent off guard. I met new people every single day in my line of work and none of them affected me. Wasn’t that the way of things though? You could meet a thousand people and they’d all mean nothing to you. But then you’d meet that one and they suddenly meant everything.

MICHELLE’S REVIEW

Lovers.

This book is not going to be easy for me to review. Now- don’t go thinking I didn’t like it- because I did.

But I won’t lie to you. I struggled with this book. And I’m going to explain why.

I am a 30-something single gal. I have been dating for what seems like a lifetime and obviously- with no real success. And I have been ghosted on. Many times. For those of you that are happily married or just blissfully unaware- ghosting is when a guy just disappears on you. You think you’re on your way to picking out china patterns with a man and the next think you know said “man” is gone. No texts, no calls, no nothing.

This happens a lot in the dating world. Why? Because men aren’t men anymore. Again:

So back to the book. I enjoyed this book. The writing was solid, the characters were fun - especially the supporting cast and of course the sexy times were well worth it. Jules and Cal are characters you can relate to. I mean I felt Jules in ways that I haven’t felt connected to a character before. Like maybe J. Sterling has a camera in my house and has seen me through every stage of dating a new guy.

But as much as I liked this book and would recommend it to someone who asked- it hit too close to home for me. It was so real. Maybe too real. And for that reason- I ended up hating the hero. I liked him at first until I didn’t.

And even though he redeems himself and the book is a HEA- that’s the part that was the least like real life and it just made me more bitter.

I’m being honest with you cause I want you to know that I think most people would enjoy this book. Honestly- it’s good. It’s REAL. But if you’re like me- if you share some of my story- you might get a little ragey while reading it. Just a fair warning.

DEAR HEART, I HATE YOU - Tour Teaser 2

J Sterling - headshotAbout J. Sterling:

I got fired from my last job.

It’s true.

I know you’re sitting there thinking, “Jenn, how could anyone in their right mind fire someone like you?” And I’d love to give you a good reason, but the truth is that sometimes being all sorts of awesome isn’t fun for other people. They don’t always tend to like it. lol

So I picked my pride off the floor, bought a laptop and started writing my first book. And you know what I realized? Writing stories that meant something to me was a million times better than working my ass off for someone who didn’t really care about anything other than the bottom line.

My soul has never felt more satisfied.

My heart has never been more full.

I’ve never worked so hard in my life, but I love every second of it. I truly do.

It is SO worth it.

All of it.

Every moment.

The journey it took to get to this point- I wouldn’t change a thing.
