Blog Tour - ROSE OF THORNE by Mia Michelle

unnamed

When a drunk driver tragically orphans Skylar Rose at the young age of sixteen, she leaves her dreams behind and takes on the daunting task of helping her elderly grandmother raise her young sister. While other girls her age were living a typical carefree life, she was picking up double shifts at a local café and struggling to pay the bills.

Always putting her sister’s needs and school first, Skylar has never had time to date or develop intimate relationships. Now a senior in college, she has her sights set on an amazing internship opportunity. The last thing she needed was for a sexy distraction like Sebastian Thorne to walk into her life.

Sebastian Thorne had been an entitled and reckless nineteen year old when he got behind the wheel of his new sports car that night. When his night of indulgence goes tragically wrong, Sebastian hesitantly turns to the one person, he knows can make everything go away… The one person he hates… his father.

Now twenty-six, Sebastian is the young enigmatic and powerful CEO of his late father’s design company, Thorne Enterprises. With both millions in the bank and a new woman on his arm almost every night, the world never knew the dark secret he carried inside. Still plagued with nightmares from the night of that horrific accident and having to leave the beautiful girl behind, Sebastian vows to find the one that haunts his dreams.

Sometimes the choice of revisiting our past opens the door to a future that we never thought possible.

But what do you do when the person who gave you back your life, was the very one that took it from you in the first place?

CHARACTER INTERVIEW

Sebastian and Lucas

So I am sitting down today with Sebastian Thorne from Mia Michelle’s new book Rose of Thorne. Thank you so much for joining us today, Sebastian.

Sebastian: Thank you for having me today.

So, Sebastian you are well known for your wealthy bachelor lifestyle. You have dated hundreds of different women over the years. Tell the readers what makes Skylar Rose so special?

Sebastian: Yes, it is true. I have had more than my fair share of beautiful women over the years. But no one, and I mean NO ONE, can compare to Skylar. From the moment I laid eyes on her, I wanted her and only her. However, sometimes what we want isn’t the right thing. Sometimes we have to tell ourselves ‘no’ to protect the other person.

I see. Well, can you elaborate on that last part? What does she need protecting from? Is she in some sort of danger?

Sebastian: I will never allow her to be in danger of anyone or anything ever again. When I say that, I am including myself. If there is anyone she needs protecting from, it is me. I wish I could stay away, but I can’t seem to fight this incredible magnetic pull between us. It is absolute torture seeing her everyday knowing that I can never have her.

Why is that exactly?

Sebastian: She doesn’t really know the real me. No one does actually. She deserves someone she can love and trust and I am simply not that man. All I want is for her to be happy, even if that isn’t with me.

I understand that Skylar is currently caught the eye of Lucas Drake, CEO/CFO of Drake Corporation. How exactly are you handling the idea of the two of them dating?

Sebastian: Yes, I am well aware of Lucas’ interest in Skylar. He is an alright guy I guess, but Lucas is like me, he has quite the history of being a ladies man. I am not sure if I like the idea of him using Skylar that way. So my answer is no, I definitely don’t think that he is the right man for her.

Lucas: Oh really…and I suppose that you are implying that you are then? Hello everyone, I apologize for my lateness. My flight home from New York was delayed because of the weather.

That is fine Lucas. Thank you for being able to join us today. As you probably heard, we were just discussing with Sebastian about your interest in Skylar Rose. Would you care to elaborate on your relationship with her?

Lucas: Let’s just say that Skylar has my complete and undivided attention and I plan on keeping it that way. Don’t fucking roll your eyes up at me, Thorne! I can’t help it that you let her slip through your fingers. Not that you were any competition to me to begin with.

Sebastian: Don’t fucking tell me that you have any serious intentions with her. I know you all too well my friend. You don’t give a damn about anyone but pleasing that dick of yours!

Lucas: FUCK YOU! You have no idea what I feel for her! Besides that, aren’t you a fine one to talk? If you care so much about her, then why did I see you leaving Driskill’s the other night with that blonde? I bet you thought long and hard about Skylar when blondie was riding your dick! You are one selfish arrogant son of a bitch, you know it?

Lucas, I’m going to start off by asking a similar question that I asked Sebastian earlier. For someone who has a reputation with the ladies, what makes Skylar different. Has she tamed the wild playboy?

Lucas: It is true, I certainly loved the ladies. I used to laugh at my grandfather when he told me that one day I’d have the breath knocked out of me by some girl. I laughed at his words until the day I had met Skylar. For me, she is ‘that girl’. I have never been happier in all of my life. She is amazing in every way.

Alright gentlemen, please settle down!! Mr. Thorne! Mr. Drake! Please sit back down! We don’t want any violence in here.

Lucas: I apologize for getting out of line here at the studio. But Thorne you better back the fuck off or I swear to Christ that I will take you down! You know I am not afraid of you! Skylar is mine now, not yours.

Sebastian: Yours? Give me a fucking break! You barely know each other and you act like you are already in love with her. She isn’t yours Drake and she never will be!

Lucas: Really? Then I guess we will just have to see about that then won’t we?

Sebastian: Yes!! Yes, we will! And then maybe you will finally understand that she has and always will be mine.

Lucas: You fucking asshole! She will NEVER be yours!

Alright folks, that is all we have time for today. We appreciate our guests joining us….Wait! I said NO FIGHTING in here! PLEASE! SECURITY!!!!!

Lucas: Thanks for letting me join you guys today. Sebastian is good to see you again, bro.

BOOK SYNOPSIS

Abby DeSmet is at a crossroads in her life. Frustrated by her demanding job as an art curator and finally free of a two-year relationship mistake, she’s kidnapped for the summer by her best friend. With ‘change’ as their mantra, they’re off to Santa Cruz, vowing to meet new people, do new things, do new people…

Things get complicated when she meets two great guys: one a years-younger biker and the other a more age-appropriate artist. What’s a woman to do when desire conflicts with reality? Maybe it’s time to learn the art of appreciation.

BOOK EXCERPT

Abby slid her hand along the sculpture’s outstretched arm until she could lightly touch the clay hand. “And this is the last part you worked on,” she whispered.

Matt’s head jerked up. “Pretty much,” he said. “How -”

“ ‘I’ve been thinking about your hands all day,’” Abby quoted his own words back at him, and Matt had a sudden and total recall of standing with Abby at the foot of her stairs, how it felt to finally have those hands on his skin after spending the day crafting their doubles in clay. Remembering how warm and gentle they were, and the sound of Abby’s quiet laughter in the dark, how she’d felt to him… the words that might make her understand his need to sculpt her caught in his throat and left him speechless.

Rotating the table again, Abby broke the silence. “You’ve been doing this along with your other sculptures?” Her hand rose to her eyes. “This is… overwhelming.”

Words came back to him in a rush. “Abby, I’m sorry. I swear I never meant for anyone to see the statue – I’d never show it, or sell it, or…” He slid off the table, reaching toward her shoulder before dropping his hand to his side. “You fascinate me, and I just… I never meant to hurt you. I…” This time he did touch her shoulder. “Christ, Abby, would you please look at me? I’m dying here.”

Abby turned, a shimmer of tears in her eyes. “It’s not perfect,” she whispered. She looked back at the sculpture and chuckled, wiping at her eyes.

Matt turned her face back around with one gentle hand. “I can change it. I’ll destroy it, if you’d like. Anything you want.” He leaned in to press his lips against her forehead, looking over her head at his sculpture with sadness, contemplating what it would feel like to destroy something that was so precious to him. The clutching in his chest distracted him so much that he had to close his eyes and breathe deeply, pillowing his cheek on Abby’s hair. He was so preoccupied in readying himself to do whatever it took to stop Abby’s tears that he almost missed her next words.

“I want you to finish it. That’s what I want.”

“What?” He raised his head sharply and leaned against the table upon which he’d been sitting a moment before. “You said it wasn’t perfect.”

Abby smiled and shrugged. “Neither am I, Matt. Thank you.”

Matt’s head was spinning. “For what?”

“For seeing me. For not Barbie-ing up what you could have. For being honest, but kind.” Abby brushed a tear off of her cheek. “For making me beautiful, but still me.”

Matt wrapped his arm around Abby’s waist and turned her toward the sculpture. She leaned her head against his chest as he revolved the tabletop upon which her clay doppelganger stood. “This is how I see you, Abby,” Matt said. “And you’re beautiful. I didn’t ‘make you’ anything.”

CHARACTER BIO

1379370_603668773016885_1877169580_n

At 38, Matt Clarke is a man comfortable in himself. He loves his life as a sculptor in Santa Cruz, CA, both for the laid-back lifestyle and because it allows him to surf and spend time in his beloved Pacific. He’s never had any lack of female company, but hasn’t been tempted to let anyone invade his personal Fortress of Solitude… until Abby blew into town and changed his mind.

1. What is your ideal woman like?
Smart. Funny. I like a woman who has her own life and lets me participate. And I have to admit that someone who appreciates what I do is pretty irresistible.

2. What do you like the least about yourself?
Eh. Same stuff that most guys get irritated about. Feeling…not good enough, at times. It’s dumb, but what can you do?

3. What are the three most important things in life to you?
Love. Friendship. Being my own man.

4. What music is on your playlist right now?
Surfer cliché—Jack Johnson. Xavier Rudd—he’s an Aussie boardhead. Pearl Jam, Soundgarden—you name the 90s grungy indie band, and I probably have it on my iPod. See? Cliché.

5. What is your favorite curse/dirty word?
Not a huge curser. Probably the standards—‘damn’, ‘hell’.

6. How do you seduce and/or excite a woman?
Experience. Experience and good hands.

7. Where is the most interesting place you’ve ever made love?
Lordy. Where haven’t I? Maybe during that monsoon in Bali… I’m open to suggestions—have any special requests?

SYNOPSIS

“They’re baaack!”

The raunchy, witty gang from Schooled is back again, but this time what they lack in full-out graphic erotica, they more than make up for in humor, sarcasm, sexual innuendo, and believe it or not, emotional angst.

Now that Janelle Garrity’s reputation has been slandered all over her hometown, and the locals are referring to her as “Professor Pedophile,” she has a lot of cleansing of her good name to tend to. But that won’t stop her from still getting down and dirty with her sexy boy toys, Briggs Alexander and Leo Cling. Both men taught her about that four-letter word, lust. But, can they further her education and teach her even more about that other four letter word, love? Briggs and Leo both possess secrets that Janelle never saw coming. Will those secrets be too much for her, causing this teacher to dismiss class early? Or does Janelle Garrity, teacher extraordinaire, have that special ability to turn all situations into a “teachable moment” for everyone involved?

Inquiring and dirty minds want to know; will Janelle hold on to that hunky football star, taking him all the way to the end zone? Or will Janelle choose the romance-reading intellectual as her other half? The Final Lesson Plan will give you all the answers, and you won’t even have to cheat.

MICHELLE’S REVIEW OF SCHOOLED 2

Do not read this if you have not read Schooled. There are no spoilers but you need to know what happened in the first book! And so we meet again Janelle/Briggs/Leo!

Schooled 2 picks up right where Schooled ended. As the book cover says, it’s Smutless. I wasn’t sure how I would feel about it but it worked. Somehow the moments that were meant to be hot still were but more importantly you were able to focus on the relationships that developed.

I felt like compared to Schooled, the writing style here was more fun. Sometimes it did get a little distracting but overall it felt very personal, as if you were sitting with the author and she was telling you a story. And Deena is hilarious so it totally works and in my head we’re totally friends.

Nothing changed for me from book 1. I was still totally Team Leo. BUT as it is clearly stated in the book, someone is going to have their feelings hurt. And both guys are great and you know she can’t go wrong either way but you don’t want anyone to get hurt!! Why can’t we live in a world where I can have both?? I mean Janelle. Sorry.

Anyways- this book is fun because now the boys have worked out their contract and schedule and they are courting Janelle. It is so fun to see their dates. My favorite part was seeing more about their individual families. Especially Leo’s. Yea thanks for making me cry on that one Deena. Thanks.

Again- I am just not the biggest Janelle fan. I think out of all the characters she is the most immature. I mean Leo and Briggs do a few things that show their age but it’s not until close to the end where I don’t want to smack Janelle a little. I do get that she has a big decision to make and both guys are great. But it’s how she handles her self in certain events throughout the book that bothers me. She just seems a little immature at times.

Char is totally bad ass in this book. Like best. friend. ever.

Marcus is still a dick. I mean if possible he is more of a dick than the first book! It’s amazing but Janelle, her boys and Char all put him in his place at different times and it’s beautiful.

I won’t tell you who she picks because that would be awful for me to do to you but she does make a decision and this is a HEA.

Deena Bright did a great job of wrapping up this story. With just the right blend of funny, sexy and sweet Schooled 2 is a winner.

EXCERPT

When I heard the knock, my skin tingled; I’d waited long enough. I opened the door and Briggs was on me in a second. His mouth hungrily sought mine, devouring me. I had no desire to hold back, no feeling of restraint. I wanted him, needed him. I wrapped my arms around his neck and he lifted me up. My legs wrapped eagerly around his waist; I could feel his erection straining against his shorts. I loved that he was hard on arrival. (HOA—way better than DOA) That was hot. Too hot. Wow.

“Fuck, I missed you,” he groaned into my mouth. “Goddamn.” Our breathing and desire increased; all the worry and frustration of the last few days were gone. All that mattered was that he was here with me, ready. And oh so freaking hot.

Briggs nearly threw me on the couch; the look in his icy blue eyes made me squirm. I wanted him; there was no denying that. After our lessons last month, I knew what he had to offer, and it was an offer worth taking. He took off his shirt and started walking toward me, never taking his eyes from mine.

“Jesus Christ,” Leo said through gritted teeth. “I can’t be three minutes late, for fuck’s sake?” Leo picked up Briggs’ shirt, handed it to him, patted his stomach, and said, “Looking a little soft, McConaughey, might wanna lay off the junk food.” The shirtless McConaughey reference made me explode with laughter, only pissing off Briggs more.

Briggs snagged his shirt back and put it on, “Fuck off Cling, soft my ass.”

“Janelle, really?” Leo walked over to the couch and sat down on the coffee table. “I don’t expect much from that barbarian, but really? Do you have no restraint?”

“Don’t ‘Janelle really’ me,” I argued. “Neither of you have touched me in ten very long days.”

Man, Leo looked good. He must’ve taken his mom and grandma to brunch earlier; something he does on the first Sunday of every month. He knew I was a sucker for the preppy, frat boy look. His clothes were his ammunition today. I loved a well-dressed man. His tan polo shirt looked incredible with this sun-kissed skin. I was surprised at how tan he looked, knowing that he probably doused himself in a gallon of sunscreen every time he encountered daylight. And Briggs, he knew that his eyes were my weakness; he’d deliberately worn a light blue shirt to accentuate my kryptonite. I just knew it. These two were playing hardball. Damn.

Leo grabbed my hand and said, “Trust me, these last ten days have been torture, but I promise, I’ll make every last minute up to you tomorrow.” He kissed my hand; my breath caught. I licked my lips. He sighed, leaning closer to me, and I sat up, meeting him.

“What the fuck,” Briggs said. “This shit ain’t gonna work. I’m gonna flatten Loverboy Leo over here,” he threatened, pushing Leo back. Leo stood up, squaring off, staring Briggs right in his gorgeous, panty-creaming eyes. They were eye-to-eye, like two animals fighting over their prey. Me. I still couldn’t fathom that Leo Cling was as tall and as cut as Briggs Alexander. It was truly amazing. Amazing to see the eighth and ninth wonders of the world standing in my pool house, both wanting me.

I walked between them when Leo whined like schoolboy, “Seriously Janelle, he said ‘ain’t,’ isn’t that some sort of deal-breaker for you?”

“Awwww whattsa matter Cling, don’t think you’re man enough to win this?” Briggs goaded him.

CHARACTER INTERVIEW - LEO

ARR: Leo, I get that you weren’t the chick magnet in high school but now- you’re gorgeous, have a great job and you’re gorgeous. Oh- yea and you are really sweet and according to Janelle, great in bed. Why Janelle when you could have any girl (me for example) you wanted?

LEO: I appreciate the compliments, but I’m asking the same thing. How could Janelle Garrity be interested in me at all? I mean, Briggs Alexander is what all of us commoners want to be. Plus, you don’t know Marcus. Girls are all over that guy at all times. How could she look at me and even want to talk to me longer than explaining what weeds need pulled and what hedges to trim? I cannot wrap my brain around it. But, I am certainly not complaining. Janelle is the most incredible woman I have ever known. When I would sit in her class, she would talk about literature in a way that was so passionate and so profound that I knew that every aspect of her was the same. She is deep, wise, and incredibly beautiful. Janelle can make even the biggest thug or gothic prick smile, because she was funny, but cared about them too. She’s everything.

ARR: You had a pretty special experience with Janelle in Schooled? Was it worth the wait? Did it live up to the fantasy? Did it live up to the fantasy?

LEO: Oh my God, it WAS the fantasy.

ARR: Well I just swooned a little. Anyways…

ARR: Your family really touched me in this book and it’s clear how much your sister and her opinion means to you. What if you could never have your sister’s approval of your relationship with Janelle? Would that have any effect on your courting of her?

LEO: It definitely would have. But as much as Megan meant to me, I meant the same to her. She knows me. She could just tell that she had to accept this, accept Janelle. Megan was my best friend. She knew that Janelle was not only my fantasy, but quickly becoming my best friend, too.

ARR: You plan a great date for Janelle in this book. If someone was planning a perfect date for you, what would you want that to look like?

LEO: The perfect date for me would be Janelle, Janelle and I doing anything. I could sit and watch Steel Magnolias cuddled on a couch with her, with her head in my lap, running my fingers through her hair, and it would be the perfect date. I would not only watch the movie, but I would watch her. I would marvel at the crinkle of her eyes as she laughed, her lip pop out when she tried not to cry, and I would be happy. “I’d rather have a few minutes of wonderful than a lifetime of nothing special.” Steel Magnolias is a great movie-don’t judge.

ARR: No judgement here. I was raised the south. Steel Magnolias is a requirement. And again- I swoon.

ARR: Finally, your tactics for winning Janelle’s heart are way different than Briggs. Now I know why she should pick you because it’s obvious to me but tell our readers why you’re the obvious choice

LEO: The truth is: I am different from Briggs, but he’s a great guy and loves her…a lot. I of course want her to choose me, because I want to give her the world and make her laugh and smile for the rest of her life. I want to look at our children and know that our love created them. But, Briggs could do all that too. If I lose, I would be losing to a worthy opponent. Now if it were Marcus, then I’d never rest comfortably again, knowing all the ways he was hurting her.

ARR: Well folks. There you have it. If Leo doesn’t make you swoon then you should probably head to the ER cause something is way wrong with you. Of course I can see why you might be Team Briggs. But only a little. Seriously- Leo.
