What do you
think? Should I give him a try?

CONSOLATION PRIZE
Forbidden Men #9
Linda Kage
Released Nov 17th, 2016

Don’t you just hate it when someone destroys all your carefully made plans?

I mean, I had goals: college to graduate in one semester, a future I was working hard to reach, and an image of myself I wanted the world to see. My life was stacked into these precisely placed blocks. But then Colton Gamble came along and knocked them all askew.

I hated how he messed everything up, how he could hog all my attention whenever he was around, how he made my pulse quicken-but only because he ticked me off…not because I was attracted to him. Oh! And I hated how he knew how attractive he was too, the shallow, full of himself, doesn’t take no for an answer, too-flirty, too cocky, extremely irritating jerk.

The boy had all the qualities that turned me off. Or so I thought.

One night he wasn’t quite the brainless, over-confident jerk I usually took him for.

One night, he took care of me when I was at my lowest. He opened up to me and made me open up to him.

Now I’m learning maybe he’s not what I first thought he was. And maybe I’M not what I first thought I was. Maybe it’s okay to rearrange a couple of my perfectly set blocks. Maybe, just maybe, I’ll stop worrying about what I’m afraid everyone else will think and finally reach for something I really want. It’s possible some of my plans need to be destroyed, and Colton Gamble is exactly the kind of mess I need in my life.

What do you think? Should I give him a try?

Desperately seeking your advice,
Julianna Radcliffe

PEPPER’S REVIEW

This is exactly how I felt after reading this book:

I seriously cannot get enough of the FORBIDDEN MEN series. I am obsessed. If you haven’t gotten on the FM train - you need to immediately. And CONSOLATION PRIZE is a great way to start. This is definitely a standalone, however, I would highly suggest you just binge all 9 books - because this series will rock you.

OK - on to this book. I will tell you that there is A LOT going on in this book. So, without attempting a rewrite, I’m just going to tell you why I loved it so much. And obviously I’m going to tell you that you need it in your life STAT. This is a “frenimies to lovers” sort of book and it will get all your emotions going.

OMG Colton Gamble. Perfect blend of Noel (older brother - protective alpha) and Ten (older brother’s bff - smart ass teaser). And to me - this is my dream man.

With Colton being 18 in this book and watching him grow up from age 8 throughout the series, this just made him that much more endearing. But Dear Lord, I am not ashamed to say that he grew up and turned into a dirty talking sexy ass MAN.

I loved how Colton knew he wanted Julianna and just went for it. I loved his confidence - even in the face of his insecurities.

And Julianna - I swear I wanted to throttle her at times. She really was a sassy bitch and although I love me a sassy bitch, sometimes she was just a bitch.

I loved how she eventually lets that facade go and embraces her attraction (both physical and emotional) to Colton. And this is when things just explode - in so many good ways.

Now, Colton and Julianna have several hurdles to go through before they have their HEA. Julianna first being into Colton’s older brother, the fact that Julianna is 4 years older than Colton, the two of them fighting like children on a playground (which was hilarious and sexy AF), and the most intense issue being that these two battle with being in an interracial relationship (when I say battle, I mean, that other people are assholes and make life difficult for anything out of their norm). As per usual, LKage handles all these things (and more) like a boss. Her writing is flawless. She is a genius. I love her. I want to be best friends with her and have her tell me bed time stories.

The thing that I am so obsessed with in regard to this series is that LKage brings everyone back from previous books. This framily is my absolute favorite of any book series I’ve ever read. I love all of these people and I get so giddy when other characters from past books show up. In CP, Colton’s older brother Noel and his wife go through something really intense and something I have experienced myself - thus making me FEEL that much more.

I cannot say enough good things about this book. If you love a good enemies to lovers storyline - packed with a shit ton of giggles, drama, and hot AF love - you need this book. Please get on the FORBIDDEN MEN train. You will not be disappointed. Get yourself a little Thanksgiving gift and binge this series. And if you’ve read them all, then reading CONSOLATION PRIZE is an obvious yes! Thanks LKage (bestie) for giving us more of our favorite peeps. Please don’t let this be the end.

HEAT WAVE by Karina Halle: Book Tour & Review

They say when life closes one door, another one opens.

This door happens to lead to paradise.

And a man I can never, ever have.

Still grieving the loss of her sister who died two years ago, the last thing Veronica “Ronnie” Locke needed was to lose her job at one of Chicago’s finest restaurants and have to move back in with her parents. So when a window of opportunity opens for her – running a kitchen at a small Hawaiian hotel – she’d be crazy not to take it.

The only problem is, the man running the hotel drives her crazy:
Logan Shephard.
It doesn’t matter that he’s got dark brown eyes, a tall, muscular build that’s sculpted from daily surfing sessions, and a deep Australian accent that makes your toes curl.
What does matter is that he’s a grump.
Kind of an asshole, too.
And gets under Ronnie’s skin like no one else.

But the more time Ronnie spends on the island of Kauai, falling in love with the lush land and its carefree lifestyle, the closer she gets to Logan. And the closer she gets to Logan, the more she realizes she may have pegged him all wrong. Maybe it’s the hot, steamy jungles or the invigorating ocean air, but soon their relationship becomes utterly intoxicating.

There’s just one major catch.

The two of them together would incite a scandal neither Ronnie, nor her family, would ever recover from.

Forbidden, Illicit, off-limits – sometimes the heat is worth surrendering to, even if you get burned.

MICHELLE’S REVIEW

OMG

Lovers.

This book. I loved it.

So wow- I don’t even really know where to start.

This book is 100% not about cheating but it does deal with some REALLY complicated relationship dynamics.

Without giving anything away- you have Veronica aka Ronnie- escaping to Hawaii. Unfortunately, she is escaping right into the arms of Logan Shepard. There’s a lot of reasons Logan is a problem and those problems become clear early on.

As Ronnie and Logan navigate through their past it becomes clear that their future probably won’t be smooth sailing either.

Logan is cool- like the man has got his feelings under control. He knows what he wants and he’s ok with that. But Ronnie is so worried about what people will think and she gets caught up in her own head a lot. Despite this- I like her a lot. I mean don’t get me wrong- she pisses me off. But she’s overall a likeable character. Logan? Logan is 100% loveable. I love him. LOVE.

And just in case you were wondering- there are sexy times happening and they are SO DAMN SEXY. Omg- Karina Halle- girl. GIRL.

Anyways- I’ve probably not really sold you at this point but trust me- this book is fun and sexy and different and I loved it.

This book is a little bit second chance romance, a little bit boss/employee love, a little bit taboo- and it all adds up for an amazing story.

With her USA Today Bestselling The Artists Trilogy published by Grand Central Publishing, numerous foreign publication deals, and self-publishing success with her Experiment in Terror series, Vancouver-born Karina Halle is a true example of the term “Hybrid Author.” Though her books showcase her love of all things dark, sexy and edgy, she’s a closet romantic at heart and strives to give her characters a HEA…whenever possible.

Karina holds a screenwriting degree from Vancouver Film School and a Bachelor of Journalism from TRU. Her travel writing, music reviews/interviews and photography have appeared in publications such as Consequence of Sound, Mxdwn and GoNomad Travel Guides. She currently lives on an island on the coast of British Columbia where she’s preparing for the zombie apocalypse with her fiancé and rescue pup.

MANAGED by Kristen Callihan: Review and Excerpt

It started off as a battle of wits. Me: the ordinary girl with a big mouth against Him: the sexy bastard with a big…ego.

I thought I’d hit the jackpot when I was upgraded to first class on my flight to London.

That is until HE sat down next to me. Gabriel Scott: handsome as sin, cold as ice. Nothing and no one gets to him. Ever. He’s a legend in his own right, the manager of the biggest rock band in the world, and an arrogant ass who looks down his nose at me.

I thought I’d give him hell for one, long flight. I didn’t expect to like him. I didn’t expect to want him. But the biggest surprise? He wants me too. Only in a way I didn’t see coming.

If I accept his proposal, I leave myself open to falling for the one man I can’t manage. But I’m tempted to say yes. Because the real man beneath those perfect suits and that cool façade just might be the best thing that’s ever happened to me. And I just might be the only one who can melt the ice around his heart.

Let the battle begin…

MICHELLE’S REVIEW

OMG

Lovers.

Holy delayed gratification and foreplay.

Gabriel and Sophie’s story was so so good but SO MUCH TORTURE. I mean these two had way more willpower than I do. I wanted to reach into my kindle and place Sophie on top of Gabriel’s dick because omg these two and the sexual tension!!!

But this book was so good. So if you read IDOL, you know that Gabriel is basically David Gandy. So first of all you get to picture DG and his glorious nips and that is a gift in and of itself.

But beyond that- we know Gabriel to be kind of cold but loved by the band. They reference him as Scottie of course but then one day- this hurricane named Sophie comes blowing into his life and she knocks him on his ass with her calling him Sunshine and basically just making his whole world turn right side up.

These two are like magnets to one another. They find a calm and a solace in one another and bring out the best in each other.

But Gabriel’s past makes him keep everyone at arms length. While he lets Sophie in more than anyone else- he still takes a long time to really let her all the way in.

And when he does???? OMG. I was torn between melting at these two admitting their true feelings and just bursting into flames at these two finally coming together.

Kristen Callihan is such a strong writer. I absolutely love how she puts together a story. This for me was not a quick read because there is so much story and character development but it had me captivated from the very beginning.

Yes it’s sexy and yes it’s fun and even funny at times. But it’s so emotional too and that’s what I loved about it. I fell in love with these characters and wanted the best for them both. And in the end- that’s what we got.

I cannot wait for more from the rest of the guys in the band- especially Jax!!

EXCERPT

I stroll toward the bedroom but come to an abrupt halt at the threshold. For a second, I can only gape at the sight that greets me. It’s so shocking, I turn around to check whether there are cameras rolling and I’m being punked.

“Why are you looking about like that?” Gabriel drawls, not taking his eyes from the TV.

“Just checking to make sure I hadn’t wandered into an alternate reality.”

“Amusing as always, Darling.”

Who could blame me for being suspicious? Gabriel Scott is out of his suit and wearing a soft, gray long-sleeve thermal and black sweats. This is shocking enough—but at least I’ve seen it before. The fact that he’s lounging in his bed, while eating some sort of dessert out of a bowl, is what has me flabbergasted.

“You’re staring,” he says dryly as he…

“Are you watching Buffy?” My voice has a tinge of a squeal.

He rolls his eyes. “Deal with it.”

“I’m just so…” My hand flutters to my chest. “Are you sure I’m not being punked?”

A snort escapes him. “You’re not famous, so no. I, on the other hand, have my moments of doubt that you aren’t here to punk me.”

I’m so happy, I have to fight grinning like a loon as I kick off my shoes and crawl onto the end of the bed. “If I were to punk you, I’d change out all your suits for polyester.”

At that, his eyes finally slide to mine, and his skin actually pales. “That’s just cruel, Darling.”

“Stop calling me that.” I steal his spoon.

“It’s your name.”

“Are you sure that’s what you’re calling me by?” I ask suspiciously, as he moves his bowl out of reach.

“What else would I be doing?” There’s a glint in his eye that leads me to answer in a sing-song voice.

“A term of endearment? Declaring your undying lurve for me.”

His nose wrinkles. “You’re going to put me off my pudding.”

“Pudding? Is that what you’re eating?” I lunge for the bowl, but he’s too quick, and I end up sprawled across his chest.

We both go still, me clutching the spoon in one hand, my other palm pressed against the firm swell of his pec, him with one arm still outstretched, his other one pinned beneath me.

His breathing goes deep and strong as he peers down at me. My attention drifts to his lips, beautifully sculpted and softly parted. How would he kiss? Would he start off slow, taking little nibbles, testing the waters? Or would he be the type to go all in, possess my mouth with his?

Heat floods my body, fluttering through my belly.

Gabriel’s lids lower, and his breath catches.

In the background, someone is shouting Buffy’s name. It’s enough to snap me out of whatever fog that touching Gabriel has pulled me into.

“You smell like apple pie,” I whisper inanely.

His gaze darts from my mouth to my eyes. “It’s crumble. Apple crumble.”

“Why did you call it pudding?”

“It’s what we Brits call dessert.” He’s still staring at my mouth. Dessert indeed.

My lips part, sheer lust making them plump. “Give me a bite.”

With an audible swallow, he slowly takes the spoon from my hand. I don’t look away from his eyes as he scoops up a bit of the crumble.

The spoon shakes just a little. Cool metal slides over my lower lip, and hot crumble fills my mouth. I barely suppress a moan, my lips closing around the spoon as he slowly draws it back out. He grunts in response, a short, helpless sort of sound that he quickly smothers.

Libby

I found Killian drunk and sprawled out on my lawn like some lost prince. With the face of a god and the arrogance to match, the pest won’t leave. Sexy, charming, and just a little bit dirty, he’s slowly wearing me down, making me crave more.

He could be mine if I dare to claim him. Problem is, the world thinks he’s theirs. How do you keep an idol when everyone is intent on taking him away?

Killian

As lead singer for the biggest rock band in the world, I lived a life of dreams. It all fell apart with one fateful decision. Now everything is in shambles.

Until Liberty. She’s grouchy, a recluse —and kind of cute. Scratch that. When I get my hands on her, she is scorching hot and more addictive than all the fans who’ve screamed my name.

The world is clamoring for me to get back on stage, but I’m not willing to leave her. I’ve got to find a way to coax the hermit from her shell and keep her with me. Because, with Libby, everything has changed. Everything.
