SYNOPSIS

Addison Snow is your typical teenager. She has a family that loves her, friends that make her laugh, and she’s wrapped up in the excitement of graduating high school and going off to college to pursue her dream of becoming an author. When her mother, who also happens to be Addison’s best friend, dies unexpectedly, her world comes to a crashing halt.

Death changes everyone…

To make the pain go away, Addison and her father travel down separate, dark paths. She chooses to endher grief forever, while he drowns his sorrows in the bottom of a bottle. How do you learn to live again when the most important person in your life is gone?

Addison struggles to pick up the pieces of her life. Instead of getting back to being the carefree teenager she once was, she’s stuck handling all of the responsibilities that should have been her father’s. She has no time to grieve, no time for emotions, and no time for happiness…until Zander Reinhardt walks in. All it takes is one little handwritten note on a napkin to kickstart her back to life and help her realize that maybe there’s more to that life than pain.

But can it really be that simple? Can she really trust this man who makes her feel alive again for the first time in a year?

Addison and Zander both have secrets they aren’t ready to share. When the truth finally comes out, is it enough to tear them apart or has something bigger than themselves always been watching over them, pushing them together, making sure they both get their happily ever after?

PEPPER & MICHELLE’S JOINT REVIEW

MICHELLE: So I personally loved this book. I thought it was so powerful and emotional. What did you think?

PEPPER: I liked the book. It was full of a lot of angst and so it was a nice breath of fresh air when things finally resolved and came together. I was like:

MICHELLE: My heart ached for Addison. For all intents and purposes she was without any parents and forced to grow up. But the fact that she closed herself off to really feeling is what resonated with me. I just got that about her.

PEPPER: OMG. I hated what she went through. I could not imagine losing my mother. And, I have had a lot of experience with an addict for a father, so that was truly heart wrenching to read about. I felt like her character was so real and written very well.

MICHELLE: I can’t even imagine being her. Anyways, Zander. Swoon. I just loved him. I actually liked that Tara didn’t go too over the top with his physical description. When it gets too into how ridiculously hot and perfect the guy is I basically can only think about David Gandy and Henry Cavill and I get distracted. The way she wrote Zander I was able to focus on him and in turn, fall in love with him. My favorite scene with him was the Lego house but pretty much everything he did, I loved. And the napkin notes. Be still my heart.

PEPPER: OH- YES! I loved Zander so much. Like I felt that there was more to his being around then just coincidence, but it was so obvious that he had really fallen for her regardless. I actually liked that he wasn’t a hot mess, like most of our book boyfriends. He was totally put together and made it so much better for Addison.

MICHELLE: I did figure out the twist around Zander pretty early so I was on pins and needles waiting…. Just waiting….

PEPPER: Right?! I was totally like:

MICHELLE: Ha! Me too!! The only thing that lost me a little was with the therapist at the end. I know that’s a big part of it and I got it. I’m a spiritual person so I took everything that happened in a more spiritual way but it was still just intense for me.

PEPPER: I know, this was strange for me. I am so not spiritual. Like, I get it. But still I was like:

HOWEVER, I must say that it did not deter me too much from liking the book. Like, I get where she was going with it, so it was fine. It did not define the book for me, even though it was a huge part of it.

MICHELLE: I totally agree. I think it was done really well. The whole book was. This wasn’t a sexy book at all but I still loved it. It had a lot of pain and angst but it also had overcoming fear of emotion and letting yourself feel again. That’s what really had me just falling in love with Addison, Zander and of course the lovely Tara Sivec.

PEPPER: You are right, there was not much/any steam in the book, but it didn’t take away from the book. I think it would have taken away from the message that was being conveyed throughout it. So I was fine without the sex. This was absolutely one of the best angsty books of the year for me. It will tear you up emotionally, but it is such a beautiful story.

PS, I also have to say how much I LOVED that the chapters were all song titles. I love when music goes along with a book. Perfect idea - CHECKOUT THE BOOK PLAYLIST HERE
