ROOMHATE by Penelope Ward: Book Tour - Review & GIVEAWAY

roomhate cover

From New York Times Bestselling Author, Penelope Ward, comes a new standalone novel.

Sharing a summer house with a hot-as-hell roommate should be a dream come true, right?

Not when it’s Justin…the only person I’d ever loved…who now hates me.

When my grandmother died and left me half of the house on Aquidneck Island, there was a catch: the other half would go to the boy she helped raise.

The same boy who turned into the teenager whose heart I broke years ago.

The same teenager who’s now a man with a hard body and a hardass personality to match.

I hadn’t seen him in years, and now we’re living together because neither one of us is willing to give up the house.

The worst part? He didn’t come alone.

I’d soon realize there’s a thin line between love and hate. I could see through that smug smile. Beneath it all…the boy is still there. So is our connection.

The problem is…now that I can’t have Justin, I’ve never wanted him more.

Author’s note – RoomHate is a full-length standalone novel. Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

MICHELLE’S REVIEW

OMG.

Lovers. I don’t even know how to review this book. So let me start by saying, I loved it. It was hard for me to put down. I was weirdly addicted to Amelia and Justin.

But here is why this book is hard to review. First of all- I can’t tell you much of anything without spoiling it. Secondly- there wasn’t anything necessarily “new” in this book. In fact- there were some pretty predictable themes and moments.

Here’s what I think. Penelope Ward writes in such a way that it makes you forget or maybe excuse things that you normally might nitpick. It’s proof that quality writing matter as much as a story line does.

For example, Justin is mad at Amelia for abandoning him when they were younger. For a large part of the beginning of their reunion- he doesn’t want to talk to her, he treats her like shit and even after they sort of patch things over and he has another relationship- he’s in her business about who she dates and what she does.

Now normally- I would be like- who the hell does he think he is. But the way PWard writes this story- I’m totally on board with this behavior!!!!

Not only did PWard make me like themes and story line twists that I normally would probably not go for, she made me CRY. I found myself bawling like a little baby pretty much the last third of the book.

I don’t know if Justin is going to rise to top of the book boyfriend list but he made his way pretty close to the top by the end.

And Amelia. At first I thought she was going to be a wet blanket but I actually found her to be remarkably strong and I really liked her in the end.

Now, I’ll admit. This is my first book by Penelope Ward- alone. I did read Cocky Bastard but that was my intro to the worlds of Penelope and Vi. I’m hooked on both of them now. I now need to catch up on all the books.

Penelope Ward fans- you shouldn’t even hesitate. New to Penelope Ward? I think this a good starting point. It’s predictable in points and yet not all at once. I know- I’m making no sense. Just know that I enjoyed this book and I think you will too!
