This was my first Lili St. Germain book and given the fact that this is a three part series- I will be coming back for more.
As I understand it, CARTEL is a spin off series about the GYPSY BROTHERS. I was so excited to grab this one. It had elements of a lot of things I love when reading a darker book. The synopsis grabbed me from the very start.I realize after reading some reviews that not knowing anything about these characters could have me at a disadvantage but I’m forging ahead with this review.
Lili St. Germain is a strong writer. I thought her writing itself was well done. And overall- I was captivated by the story. For the most part, I like Mariana. Most of the time- she was strong and fiery and I thought she was the perfect match for Dornan. But sometimes her Stockholm syndrome took over and she would become weaker. It works for the story because who could be that strong all the time??
I know there is some back story about Dornan that I don’t know yet so I am looking forward to seeing this come out. I’m guessing shit is about to get really dark. There were moments of darkness but that came out more from Dornan’s father. His affection and love for Mariana was stronger than his dark side but I have a feeling that won’t last forever.
Was this the darkest book I have ever read? No. But it has it’s moments and I know it’s only going to get worse. Looking forward to more!

Lili writes dark romance, suspense and paranormal stories. Her serial novel, Seven Sons, was released in early 2014, with the following books in the series to be released in quick succession. Lili quit corporate life to focus on writing and so far is loving every minute of it.
