From the New York Times bestselling author of Jake Undone, comes a full-length standalone companion novel and sequel.
A different side to the story: Jake’s side.
“We’re getting a new roommate,” they said.
I thought nothing of it…until she walked in the door. Her hand trembled in mine as she looked at me with fearful eyes. My entire world spun on its axis.
Nina…
It was a mismatch made in heaven: innocent girl from the boonies moves in with tattooed, pierced, badboy engineer.
I came up with a bet, a plan to tutor her in math and coach her through her phobias. What I wasn’t betting on was becoming addicted to her.
But I was living a double life on weekends, and once she found out about it, she’d be gone.
I had to protect myself and that meant one thing: I couldn’t fall in love.
In Jake Understood, pivotal scenes from Jake Undone are retold from Jake’s point of view combined with all-new material from both the past and present time where Jake Undone left off. It can stand alone but if both books are read, should follow Jake Undone. Contains graphic sexual content and harsh language. It is only appropriate for adult readers age 18+.

1ST BOOK IN SERIES - JAKE UNDONE
Nina Kennedy was alive…but not living…until she met him.
Planes, trains, heights…you name it, Nina was afraid of it and led a sheltered life ruled by irrational fears and phobias. When she moves to Brooklyn for nursing school, that life is turned upside down, as she develops an intense but unwanted attraction to her gorgeous roommate, who’s pierced, tattooed and just happens to be the smartest person she’s ever met.
Behind Jake Green’s rough exterior and devilish smile, lies a heart of gold. He makes it his mission to change Nina’s outlook on life. When he agrees to tutor her, they forge a bet and the stakes are high as Jake forces Nina to face her demons. He just wasn’t expecting to fall hard for her in the process.
What Nina doesn’t realize, is that Jake has been living his own private hell. Once he drops a bombshell, will their love survive it?
Told in two parts from both Nina and Jake’s points of view, Jake Undone is a standalone story and a companion to the novel, Gemini.
PEPPER’S REVIEW
Holy mother hugging God.

That was quite possibly the most intense book I have read in 2015. I know it released back in 2013, however I was just introduced to Penelope Ward recently. I had the opportunity to read and review both JAKE UNDONE and JAKE UNDERSTOOD for the latter book’s release. So, I’m sorry that I am late to the bat shit crazy party that is JAKE UNDONE. If you haven’t read it. Just 1-click right now. You need this insanity train in your life.
And here’s why:
1st and most obvs, is Jake. Because, tattoo bad-boy with a gigantic heart. OK. Jake is amazing. And also really stupid. Amazing because the first half of the book (told in Nina’s POV) he was cheesy and perfect and basically this was me for about 60% of the book:
And then he got RUUL stupid (even though the last half was read in alternate POV and we could see what in the actual fuck he was thinking - but wasn’t obviously). So for the remainder of the book, I was left like:
I understand that this review is not explaining anything. But people, I cannot. I can’t even discuss minor parts because this entire book is one gigantic spoiler.
And it’s SO God damn deliciously good. Even when sometimes I was like:

OK. Back to some semblance of a review. So we get that Jake is hot and does amazing things. But he also makes some real shitty decisions and I pray to God that he rectifies some of his “thinking” in JAKE UNDERSTOOD. Because right now, Jake, you and I have a love/hate thing going on. And I need more LOVE.
Nina was a precious baby of the Lord. Like, I just really don’t think things were in her favor a lot of times. And I feel like she started out pretty messed up. And then this guy comes along. And kind of fixes her. And then fucks her up even more. I wanted her to get the hell out of there:
But I also wanted her to stay. Because it seemed Jake was the only one that could help her with her issues. In any case, I had the same dichotomous relationship with Nina as I did with Jake. I absolutely loved her and wanted to hold her to my bosom. But at the same time, I was like, girl how much more of this insanity are you going to take?!? But we know, when it comes to love:

There was SO much going on in this book. Some of it could even have been left out and there was still an exorbitant amount of obstacles these two had to go through. I’m real sorry that I can’t give anything away. Because you have to experience this for yourself. It’s that kind of book. But what I will say, is that the writing is phenomenal. The storyline is obscenely crazy, as in - everything that could happen to someone happens to either one or both of these characters. It’s one of those books that although so much is going on, the love between the two MC overcomes EVERYTHING. And the end is so much better because of it. I think that’s what it’s all about really. What are you willing to do. What are you willing to fight for in order to be with the one you can’t stop thinking about. It’s pretty powerful. Nothing is going to get this love down. Bottom line:
