ABOUT LET LOVE LIVE

Although this is part of a series, it can be read as a STANDALONE.

Who would you become if you lost the only person who ever mattered?

For twenty-six year old Dylan Hopkins, the answer is easy. He’s become no one. Memories of the happier times are all he has left as he finds himself meandering numbly through his now dull life. Though he cares about his work and family dearly, he’s yet to let himself find loveagain. Afraid of letting go of what he once had, Dylan chooses to keep his heart buried, where it belongs, having died a long time ago.

Conner Michelson is about to change everything Dylan knows. He’s every bit the bad boy persona - tatted up, ex-MMA fighter, but after an injury leaves him unable to fight, he has to rethink his goals. Having just opened his own gym, Conner can cross his first major life accomplishment off his very short list. Next up: find a man he can settle down with and build a family. Seems simple enough - a dream most people have, but when he meets Dylan, his carefree, easy-going life is thrown into a tailspin.

Determined to keep Dylan in his life, Conner vows to resurrect Dylan’s long ago buried heart and let love liveonce more.

Pepper’s Review

This is book #5 in the LOVE series by Melissa Collins (and the first M/M of the series). However, it can be read as a standalone - I haven’t had the pleasure of reading the other 4 books and was not lost in this one at all.

Well, hell. This is my first M/M Romance novel ever!! And mother of GOD it was intense. SO many things happened. I don’t even know how to wrap my head around it all really.

So this book is ultimately about Dylan. And it splits his life into two parts. And two loves. And most of the time I was like:
Aloka-da-Santana
(let it be known I only bust out this particular Santana gif when I truely felt this level of devastation)

So the first part is about Dylan in high school. And he falls in love with his best friend Shane. Dylan comes from a fairly supportive family, where Shane does not. And this entire part of the book is tragic and beautiful and it’s hard to put into words what all of this did to me.

On one hand we are dealing with this perfect and gorgeous love/friendship between two boys. And then on the other we are dealing with disgusting people who say and act in a way that is ruining society because of their views on said boys. I haven’t had this many dichotomous feelings whilst reading a book in a while. I was blissfully happy for these two that had each other. And so fucking pissed at all the hate coming their way. So much hate that led to the ultimate demise of the relationship. And obviously left me like:

Shane was perfection. I am pretty sure he was my favorite character in this book. I felt so much for him. And his dad? Better watch your back:

God the violence I feel because of this book. Sorry, the hate and bigotry makes me so angry. But I digress.

Anyway, fast forward 8 years and this becomes the second part of the book. Dylan is pissed and done. He’s basically like:

He’s never dealt with what happened 8 years ago. I mean, he’s got shit together. He’s working as an LGBT counselor and he isn’t holed up somewhere wallowing. BUT he’s also angry and is not ready for love on any level.

Enter Connor. Thank God for the Connors of the world. Those ones that come along and save you from yourself. Connor is a bad ass. He’s had his own share of shit to deal with, but he’s dealing and making things happen for himself. He owns his own gym and this is where he meets Dylan. And changes Dylan’s life. I was SO thankful for Connor. The best part of this relationship is that Connor is ready for one. And he basically tells Dylan, catch up to where I am or I’m out. And it MADE Dylan finally deal with his past. Which ultimately leads to his much deserved HEA.

This book was heart wrenching. I’m not gonna lie. It tore me to shreds. But it was worth it all. I loved how MelColl took us through a big chunk of Dylan’s life. This was SO much more than a simple love story. I LOVED the M/M story and will for sure be reading more of this genre. If you are looking for a M/M romance AND a crazy emotional ride, this book is for you!
