When Brent Mason looks at Kennedy Randolph, he doesn’t see the awkward, sweet girl who grew up next door. He sees a self-assured, stunning woman…who wants to crush the most intimate - and prized - parts of his anatomy beneath the heels of her Christian Louboutins.
Brent has never let the loss of his leg in a childhood accident affect his ability to lead a fulfilling life. He sets high goals–and then he reaches them.
And now he has his sights set on Kennedy.
**
When Kennedy looks at Brent Mason, all she sees is the selfish, Abercrombie & Fitch catalogue-worthy teenager who humiliated her in high school to join the popular crowd. A crowd that made those years a living hell.
She’s not a lovesick social outcast anymore - she’s a DC prosecutor with a long winning streak behind her. Brent is the opposing attorney in her next case and she thinks it’s time to put him through a little hell of his own.
But things aren’t exactly working out that way.
Because every fiery exchange has her wondering if he’s as passionate in the bedroom as he is in the courtroom. Each argument and objection only makes him want her more. In the end, Brent and Kennedy may just find themselves in love…or in contempt of court.
APPEALED is a sexy, humorous romance about first crushes, second chances and the final verdict of the heart.
PEPPER & MICHELLE’S JOINT REVIEW
MICHELLE: Emma Chase writes the BEST Male POV. There. I said it. And I stand by it because it’s the truth.
PEPPER: Pretty much the most true thing you have ever said. Not many people can write male POV well - and EChase is a master.
MICHELLE:
APPEALED was perfect and the perfect way to tie up the LEGAL BRIEFS SERIES. This second chance romance for Brent and his childhood bestie, Kennedy, was exactly what I expected from Emma Chase. It was funny, sexy, sweet and entertaining the whole way through.
PEPPER: SO. Good. BUT - is it really the end of this series? I’m hoping we are going to get more with that extended epilogue. I sure hope so!
But, yes, I LOVE second chance romances. And this was one of the best. There were so many themes going on that I just could not put this book down!
MICHELLE: I know! So, we are always talking about how we love our strong heroines at All Romance Reviews. Well Kennedy is a bad ass. She was hurt by Brent as a teenager- more than he ever knew. He broke her heart and she never really recovered or forgave. But what she did do was channel that anger into becoming a bad ass prosecutor. When she and Brent land on opposites sides of the same case, she has the chance to show him how awesome she became.
PEPPER: Basically it’s like:
I really really loved her. I felt so bad that she developed the walls she did due to childhood bullying (one theme I loved that EChase tackled in this book).
MICHELLE: I know, kids are such assholes! I loved that she brought a serious subject matter into this fun and sexy read.
PEPPER: That’s one of the many reasons I love EChase so much. Each book in this series goes a little deeper than the surface subject at hand - and it makes for some REALLY good storytelling!
MICHELLE: Agreed!
So, not only is Kennedy amazing - but let’s talk about Brent!
PEPPER: OMG. Brent Mason.

MICHELLE: So - what Kennedy doesn’t know is that she was the one that got away and as far as Brent is concerned- it was HIS heart that was broken by her!
PEPPER: I loved that he was so enamored by her even when they were just little kids. I just felt bad that he failed her in a way with the asshole kids bullying her. I also liked that he had to apologize and regain her trust because of it. The whole story just felt real to me. Not everything is so pretty IRL and EChase shows that in this book.
MICHELLE: As these two navigate through their past hurts and present feelings, we’re treated to an epic second chance romance story. I loved every second of their reconciliation (aka the sex) but I also loved seeing them go at each other verbally, both in the court room and in the bed room.
PEPPER: YES!! Their banter was so great. God, they are such a good couple.
MICHELLE: I thought that Emma did a great job toward the end of not making the conflict that would inevitably come up between these two a predictable thing. I was surprised at what ultimately caused the most issues.
PEPPER: Me too! I was waiting for it, and also kind of dreading it. Because I thought the obvious conflict would be too much. So I was pleasantly surprised that it was something else. Again - great storytelling!
ALSO - can I please mention how fucking much I loved seeing all the people from books #1 and #2? I love this series so much and this cast of characters is phenomenal!
MICHELLE: I know! They are all so great.
And let me just go ahead and tell you - the epilogues (yes- plural) = EVERYTHING!! I love epilogues. So much. I like the glimpses into the future. Emma Chase KILLED it with the epilogues here . I mean I am telling you- these last few pages were perfection.

PEPPER: Like I said before - hopefully we see more from this series thanks to the epilogues!!
MICHELLE: OMG! I would die.
So…If you love the LEGAL BRIEFS series- we don’t need to tell you to read this. You get to see the whole gang and it’s that signature Emma Chase style we all love. If you have not read the series- it is one of our favorites so get to it. And if you have never read Emma Chase, take a hard look in the mirror and ask yourself why you aren’t living your best life because Emma Chase can take you there in her books.

Emma Chase, New York Times bestselling author of the Tangled Series, returns with the first installment of the Legal Briefs Series.
As a DC defense attorney, Stanton Shaw keeps his head cool, his questions sharp, and his arguments irrefutable. They don’t call him the Jury Charmer for nothing – with his southern drawl, disarming smile and captivating green eyes – he’s a hard man to say no to. Men want to be him and women want to be thoroughly cross examined by him.
Stanton’s a man with a plan. And for a while, life was going according to that plan.
Until the day he receives an invitation to the wedding of his high school sweetheart and mother of his beloved ten-year old daughter. Jenny is getting married — to someone who isn’t him.
That’s definitely not part of the plan.

What happens when you mix a one stop-light town, two professional arguers, a homecoming queen, four big brothers, some Jimmy Dean sausage and a gun-toting Nana?
The Bourbon flows, passions rise and even the best laid plans get overruled by the desires of the heart.
Book #2 in the LEGAL BRIEFS series

A knight in tarnished armor is still a knight.
When you’re a defense attorney in Washington DC, you see first-hand how hard life can be and that sometimes the only way to survive is to become harder. I have a reputation for being cold, callous, intimidating – and that suits me just fine. In fact, it’s necessary when I’m breaking down a witness on the stand.
Complications don’t work for me - I’m a “need-to-know” type of man. If you’re my client, tell me the basic facts. If you’re my date, stick to what will get you off. I’m not a therapist or Prince Charming – and I don’t pretend to be.
Then Chelsea McQuaid and her six orphaned nieces and nephews came along and complicated the ever-loving hell out of my life. Now I’m going to Mommy & Me classes, One Direction concerts, the emergency room and am knee deep in a damn compost pit.
Chelsea’s too sweet, too innocent and too gorgeous for her own good. She tries to be hard, but she’s not. She needs someone to help her, defend her…and the kids.
And that – that I know how to do.
