THE BALLER by Vi Keeland: Book Tour - Review & GIVEAWAY

the baller book tour

The first time I met Brody Easton was in the men’s locker room.

It was my first interview as a professional sportscaster.

The famed quarterback decided to bare all.

And by all, I don’t mean he told me any of his secrets.

No. The arrogant ass decided to drop his towel, just as I asked the first question. On camera.

The Super Bowl MVP quickly adopted a new hobby—screwing with me.

When I pushed back, he shifted from wanting to screw with me, to wanting to screw me.

But I don’t date players.

And it’s not because I’m one of the few women working in the world of professional football.

I’d date an athlete.

It’s the other kind of player I don’t date.

You know the type. Good looking, strong, cocky, always looking to get laid.

Brody Easton was the ultimate player.

Every woman wanted to be the one to change him.

But the truth was, all he needed was a girl worth changing for.

Turned out, I was that girl.

Simple right?

Let’s face it. It never is.

There’s a story between once upon a time and happily ever after…

And this one is ours.

MICHELLE’S REVIEW

I LOVED this book.
Loved.

To the point where I was surprised by how much I loved it. Not that I didn’t think I would but I am still thinking about how much I loved this book- days later.

As far as a football book goes- this probably has less about the actual game than a lot of football books I have read but I enjoyed the story so much, that it was ok for me. If you are a football lover- be forewarned- this is not a book that shows off the author’s knowledge of the game. There’s also a chance some of those things (bye week and not bi week for example) might have been changed since I read the ARC version

Brody Easton is cocky AF and he knows it. He also doesn’t seem to care.

To the point where he basically sexually harasses Delilah. Now normally- my feminist spidey sense would probably hate that but I was able to dive into the story itself so quickly that it ended up not bothering me as much as it probably would have had the writing not captured me.

Anyways- back to why I loved this book. Delilah is a bad-ass through most of the beginning of this book. She keeps Brody at bay no matter what her body wants to do and she learns very quickly that she is not cut out for a booty call. She forces Brody to give her more and I love that about her. By the end of the book I was 100% in love with Brody and I was finding that even in her flaws, Delilah was 100% someone I would relate to. .

One of the most interesting things about this book is how the alternating POV is written. Vi Keeland introduces a past relationship and that person also get’s their POV to share. Some people might find this unnecessary but I personally loved this.

I thought it added depth to one of our main characters in a way that had to be done. Some people in reviews I have seen are calling it a love triangle. It is not. Love triangle implies love is reciprocated. You can have someone from your past that you care about and love and still not be in love with them. I promise.

I thought while this book could have been totally predictable, it was different enough to be fun and interesting. I truly enjoyed it and think you will too!
