Sometimes rules must be broken.
Sometimes your beliefs are challenged.
Other times… you just have to follow your heart.
For Marine Corps Sgt. Alex Cruz, the Corps’ rules and regulations have served as a blueprint for how he should live his life. In his mind, the way to maintaining proper conduct and order relied heavily on the ability of the individual to follow orders without question. Alex was that individual.
Until… Pfc. Cassie Bennett.
She is brand new to the Corps, looking to cement a place in the world for herself after breaking free from the oppressive life she’s lived with her mother. Making it in the Corps is her way of showing her mother that she is more than she thinks she is, while also proving to herself she can survive one of life’s biggest challenges.
Both Alex and Cassie are tested when an intensely strong attraction develops between them. They feel it, they want it, but one thing stands in their way… The Marine Corps order on Fraternizing. Their lust filled thoughts, their strong and aching cravings for one another, and their conflicted minds lead them on a roller coaster of emotions and feelings that neither can ignore, no matter how hard they try.
Loyalties will be tested, hearts will be broken, and careers will hang in the balance. Can Alex and Cassie keep their forbidden relationship a secret, or will they lose it all by Fraternizing?
MICHELLE’S REVIEW
Ok first off- this cover is one of my favorite covers ever. Sweet Jesus but when we saw this cover Pepper and I were both like:

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I thought that the author did a great job of taking the military romance and adding a little something extra to it. Usually we get the hot military guy- and we definitely get that in Sgt. Alex Cruz. I mean Alex is sex defined. But the real twist comes from the fact that the woman he falls for is Pfc. Cassie Bennett. Alex is in charge of training all the Pfc. officers and so Cassie is basically untouchable.
I also have to add here that I liked that the author put in a lot of details of the life of a Marine. It was a nice touch and really gave insight into how things worked as well as the severity of the policy that would keep them apart.
I did think Alex was kind of a dick at first because he knew he couldn’t have Cassie but he made it impossible for her to move on and he was very Alpha about everything before he really had a reason to be.
And even after he stops being a dick for a while, things happen that play into his guilt about the no-fraternizing policy and he ends up being a dick again. And I was like:
What I love is that Cassie is a bad ass. First of all she’s a marine so she kicks ass naturally. But she just doesn’t really take shit from anyone. She stands up for herself every step of the way. Of course she’s a little weaker when it comes to Alex cause he’s got the magic stick but for the most part she stayed strong against him and I love that.
When Alex finally gets his head out of his ass, I fall in love with him. I mean he really does a 180 and as Cassie says, he shows the side of himself that is real and human and truly loveable. And he truly puts his feelings for Cassie above all else even though that is not the easiest thing for him to do. The relationship moves fast but they are very honest about admitting that it moves fast and that helps make it easier to deal with as the reader.
And the sex is amazing. So amazing. It’s just hot and like:

As for side characters, Allen is a dick and I just knew no good could come from the situation with him. But even with all I wasn’t prepared to deal with what we had to deal with when it came to him and I was definitely like:

Basically there are a few characters that you are supposed to hate and it’s really easy to hate them. Angelica is a whore and I hate her. And Sgt. Castillo is no better. Women who break other women down or try to at least, are the worst. Ever.
I love both besties- Riley for Alex ( and Smith and Newsome seem cool) and Dalton for Cassie. LOVE DALTON.
But mostly this story is about Cassie and Alex and it’s a great one.
I have to admit that there were times where the writing style didn’t work for me but I can’t exactly pinpoint why. However, for me, the story itself had me hooked and I am excited to see how things end for Cassie and Alex in the next book.
AUTHOR INFO
Just a book reading, writing loving, mommy and USMC wife!
I love to write, even if it isn’t what is conventional and makes everyone feel giddy inside. I usually pull from dreams, or ideas that just thrust themselves into my head. I have what some would describe as a dry sense of humor, and I think its conveyed in my writing. I like to think I am a kick ass chick, but I can also be sensitive. I’m learning to grow thick skin, and in this field, it is definitely needed!
I won’t put anything out that I am not absolutely proud of, but like E.L. James said, “I can’t own people’s reactions to it.” Thanks for reading my work… I do appreciate it!
