From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Breathless Trilogy comes the first novel in the Enforcers series—a bold new direction in erotic romance that explores the games men and women play, and the price they’re willing to pay for pleasure.
What he wants, he takes with no remorse or guilt.
She stood out in his club like a gem, unspoiled and untouched. A lamb among wolves, she clearly didn’t belong. Drawn to her innocence he watched as she was surrounded by men who saw what he did—but no one but him could touch her. He summoned her to his private quarters. He sensed her fear. He also recognized the desire in her eyes. And he knew she wouldn’t leave before he possessed her. She had no need to know his secrets. Not until he had her under his complete and utter control.
What he wants, she isn’t sure she can give him.
The moment he told her want he wanted, she couldn’t resist. Instinct told her to run, but her heart said stay and walk the fine line between pleasure and pain. Though she wasn’t sure she could ever completely surrender, the primal part of her wanted to try, even knowing this man could break her in ways she never imagined. Because once he possessed her, he owned her and it would be too late to turn back. She can only pray that he doesn’t destroy her in the end.

1st I have to say that this book had a real intense cliff hanger. For those of you who know me, know that I really enjoy these things and this cliff was definitely a good one. I do feel that this book could have been completed in one, however.

OK - so, basically we have your standard lone wolf, alpha man wanting a nice, innocent, naive woman to dominate. I LOVE these stories. It’s just such a great fantasy - not sure if I could ever go into a BDSM relationship IRL, so I like to imagine and fantasize about it.

So you’re probably saying, why should I read MASTERED when I’ve probably read this story dozens of times before?? I’ll tell you what I loved and didn’t love and let you decide for yourself.
What I loved: Well, it’s Maya Banks. And she’s pretty infamous for the most insanely hot sex scenes of all romance authors. I can still say that FEVER is literally one of my favorite erotic novels of all time. So it’s safe to say that I can guarantee you will enjoy this aspect of the book. If anything, reading this book will definitely heat up your e-reader and your nether regions. Basically I’m saying, HOLY hugging SHIT the sex is hot. So, if for no other reason, get this book for that.

Drake (our main dude) was hot and mysterious. There were a few aspects that bothered me about him, but I’m sure we will get more information as the next book comes out. I just always love a good alpha that talks dirty. So it’s not surprising that Drake was a win for me.
I also really liked the supporting cast. I’m hoping we see more, especially from Silas.
And, as always with these types of books, I love the Cinderella aspect. Where a rich dude takes in a destitute lady and just takes care of EVERYTHING. It’s nice to take a few hours out of my life and dream that some crazy hot alpha will come whisk me away and pay for all my shit and I can sleep on Egyptian Cotton sheets.

What I didn’t love: Evangeline. I tried so hard to get into her. I just couldn’t. Our regular readers know that both of us here at All Romance Reviews LIVE for strong female characters and Evangeline is NOT. I admired her for what she was doing for her family. I loved her fierce loyalty to the cause that was important to her. She just turned into a wet blanket where Drake was concerned and I could not get into it.
I understand that she was essentially a “sub” but I feel like I was missing substance and fight from her. AND, she would not stop talking about how she couldn’t understand why Drake liked her. Her lack of self esteem was too much.
I’m super pumped for the next book - even if I have to wait until May 2016!! If you are looking for something 50 shades-esque with some seriously crazy hot sex scenes - this book is a no brainer! Enjoy!!
