LOVELYVICIOUSSeventeen-year-old Isis Blake hasn’t fallen in love in three years, nine weeks, and five days, and after what happened last time, she intends to keep it that way. Since then she’s lost eighty-five pounds, gotten four streaks of purple in her hair, and moved to the Buttcrack-of-Nowhere Ohio to help her mom escape a bad relationship.

All the girls in her new school want one thing – Jack Hunter, the Ice Prince of East Summit High. Hot as an Armani ad, smart enough to get into Yale, and colder than the Arctic, Jack Hunter’s never gone out with anyone. Sure, people have seen him downtown with beautiful women, but he’s never given high school girls the time of day. Until Isis punches him in the face.

Jack’s met his match. Suddenly everything is a game.

The goal: Make the other beg for mercy.

The game board: East Summit High.

The reward: Something neither of them expected.

MICHELLE’S REVIEW

OMG that ending!!!!! I need book 2 now!!!
I honestly didn’t expect to love this book as much as I did. Everything about this book surprised me. For one thing I thought for sure this would be about Isis and Jack just hating each other for a while and then realizing they loved each other and living happily ever after.
Well…WRONG. This was so much more. First off, who knew high school in Ohio was like an episode of 90210?? So much crazy drama but I loved it.
Some major shit happened with Jack, Avery, Wren and Sophia- in MIDDLE SCHOOL. when you start to figure out what went down and then realize these kids were like 13, it blows your mind. Avery is a bitch of huge proportions. Hate her. Hate.
I’m not sure how I feel about Wren yet but I think I like him. At least I think I will like him more going forward. He was a little shady at times for me here.
And Kayla is another one I’m not sure about. I think I’ll like her more going forward though now that she’s cut the cord from Avery.
I loved Jack. Once you get to know him it’s impossible not too. He’s just so intense and brooding and closed off but then he comes out of nowhere with these sweet emotions for Isis. And I love it. I mean sometimes he is really an asshole but it works for him. I can’t explain it but I know you get what I’m talking about.
And Isis. I LOVE THAT BITCH!!!! She’s hilarious. I love everything about her. I cried so hard for her multiple times. I just can’t with my feelings for her. Just to give you a taste of how snarky and wonderful she is- here is what might be the best thing said ever. It also describes what I think really happened when God made David Gandy.
“It’s like God airbrushed the crap out of her, ran out of paint for everyone else, looked down at all the babies he was chucking down to Earth and went ‘hahaha whoops but check this one out- its a masterpiece.’ “
I also loved Isis’ relationship with her mother. It was totally and completely heartbreaking of course but it was also beautifully written. Seriously- this book surprised me at every turn with how emotional and amazing it was.
I know that I’m gushing but I seriously can’t help myself. Isis was just so strong and Jack was too in his own way but I think we have a lot more to learn about him. One thing I loved was that it was told mostly from Isis’ POV but every once in a while we got into Jack’s head and I LOVED IT. I hope we get more of that in the second book.
God this book was just fucking brilliant and unexpected and you have to read it!!!!!! The banter between Isis and Jack is just priceless and perfection and a whole lot of other words that I can’t even think of to describe how amazing it was.
I totally thought I knew where the author was going with this ending and I could not have been more wrong. That ending broke my heart a bit and now I have to wait for more and I don’t want to wait!
Be warned SWolf- you have a new stalker. Actually two stalkers- Pepper is with me on this but was unable to review the book with me due to family obligations. But don’t you worry- we are going to stalk you together. It’s happening so just accept it.

EXCERPT

“I paid the fee, if that’s what you’re here about,” Madison starts. Jack looks to her, smile flashing on for a moment.

“Let me talk to her. Give me one second.”

“Okay,” Madison giggles. He grabs my elbow and pulls me in the other direction.

“Is that how you kissed me?” I ask, nearly tripping as he pulls me along. “Golly gee, it looks kind of mildly fucking embarrassing! No wonder up my appointments - ”

“Whoa, I think you overestimate me, shitlord. Last time I checked all I did was be in the wrong place at the right time. I saw you and had to - ”

“Stalk me.”

“ - delicately approach you. In a sideways manner. From behind. Without being seen at all. For ten minutes.”

“Why are you even out? I thought you were sick.”

“I was. See, it’s this thing called an immune system -”

He holds up his hand and rubs his eyes. “Okay, stop. Shut all systems down and just. Stop. Talking.”

“Why?”

“It’s annoying.”

“That’s never stopped me before!”

“Why did you follow me?”

“I was…curious?”

He looks down at the jar of frosting I clutch in my hands. “Are you eating that out of the can?”

“Are you the king of stupid questions?” I fire back. “Of course I am! Frosting is the ambrosia of the gods. God, if you’re into that religious thing. Are you religious? Somehow I get the feeling the only church you’d join is the church of self-worship. Your body is your temple. Work it, boy.”

“What are you saying?” He snarls.

“You’re blabbering!”

“At least I’m not whoring!”

“I’m working right now, okay? I’m getting paid. So you need to just piss off and go to whatever immature party you were going to in the first place.”

“How’d you know I’m going to a party?”

“The receipt for red plastic cups sticking out of your jacket. Your eyeliner. Girls don’t make eyeliner wings that big unless they plan on drinking.”

“Touché. You’re smarter than I gave you credit for.”

“And you’re far more annoying than I first suspected. If I’d known you’d stalk me like all the others, I never would’ve kissed you, even as payback.”

“Seriously, you kiss everyone like that though! It was nothing special.”

“Exactly. It was nothing special. So back off and leave me alone.”
