Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000038_00071]I don’t care what my cousin says; I am not the queen of impossible relationships. I mean, just because my last boyfriend tried to kill me and left a bit of a scar on my neck, then forced me to move across the country and legally change my name to Reese Randall to escape him, does not mean—

Oh, who am I kidding? For a freshman in college, I have to have the worst dating track record ever.

It’s no wonder love is the last thing on my mind when Mason Lowe enters my life. But the chemistry between us is like bam! Our connection defies logic. And he’s just so freaking hot. Being around him makes me feel more alive than I’ve ever felt before. I even like bickering with him. He could be my soul mate…except for one teeny tiny glitch.

He’s a gigolo.

PEPPER & MICHELLE’S JOINT REVIEW

MICHELLE: Sweet God Almighty.
I loved this book.
I couldn’t get enough of it. In fact- just thinking about it makes me want to read it again.

PEPPER: I think this also needs a Sweet Baby Jesus!!
And yes, I want to re-read ASAP!! Or at least get more Linda Kage.
Eff me sideways.
It’s like:

MICHELLE: Seriously. I went and read some of the reviews before I started to read. And I have to admit, I was scared because people were GUSHING. And usually when that happens- I am left feeling a little flat. But not with this book.
Ah. Mazing.

PEPPER: Yes, I don’t think ANY amount of our signature All Romance Reviews gushing is going to do this book justice.
It’s That. Fucking. Good.

I have to say 1st that one main reason I want to re-read is because there is SO much humor and quick wit throughout the entire book. I was reading so fast, because I was devouring it like I would my first meal after a 10 day fast, so I am sure I missed some of the monologue/dialogue.

Linda is a god damn genius!!

MICHELLE: I know. I will definitely read this again.

So I was in love with Reese. I feel like we see a lot of leading ladies with an internal monologue that is meant to be quirky and funny but still relateable. Very few people can pull that off. With Reese, Linda Kage does it PERFECTLY. I felt every emotion Reese went through with her and I. LOVED. IT.

PEPPER: Man, I don’t even know what to say about Reese. I just… It’s hard to form an intelligent thought. I mean you said it so perfectly - I felt like I was having a conversation with her. It’s like, how the hell did LK do that??

MICHELLE: I know. It’s rare for me to love the female in a book the entire way through the book. But with Reese it was love at first sight. And that never changed. She was funny, caring, sweet…lesbihonest…I love her.

PEPPER: I want to know her. Like, are there people that amazing, resilient, and selfless in this world??

MICHELLE: Seriously! I was never once annoyed with her. There was no point where I wanted to shake some sense into her. Even when she did stuff where i was like “whyyyyyyyyy” I still got it and wanted to just wrap her in my arms and hug her. Because I was always in her head I felt like no matter what, I saw her side of things and sympathized with her.

PEPPER: PERFECTION. Beyond.

MICHELLE: Speaking of perfection…

PEPPER: Oh God.

MICHELLE: Mason. Lowe.

PEPPER: Oh dear God.
Seriously - Deliver. Me.
That prologue. I knew. I knew we were done for. Just so…
Gah.
I can’t talk… this is me right now:

MICHELLE: I know. He was everything.
It amazes me - how can a character that is flawed the way he is, be so amazing???

PEPPER: I have to say, that I do not think he was flawed in any way. Ok, so people are always “flawed” but, he did what he had to do. He was not proud of it. He didn’t bask in his godly penis glory. He just did what was right in front of him for his family.

MICHELLE: I totally agree that he did what he had to do. I don’t think his flaws were his fault. And in fact- he could have gone the way of Christian Grey and let the cougars make him into a total man whore for real. But when he found someone worth loving- he felt inadequate. And that was what made him so incredibly attractive to me. The way he never thought he was good enough. God. I swooned so hard. It was like:

PEPPER: Yes, this is why I don’t think he was so “broken” or “ugly” or “tainted.” He did not FEEL good about what he was doing, but felt like he had to continue for his mom and sister. That is why he was so damn perfect.

MICHELLE: I know. I mean I still think he was flawed cause he did make some dumb decisions but again- his flaws were a result of his circumstance. And they just made me love him more.

PEPPER: Yes, God, VBF, you are so good at saying exactly what I want to say.

MICHELLE: Well that’s why we’re besties.

PEPPER: And then put these two characters together. Eff me. I loved the two of them together so much.

EVERY interaction was hilarious and so genuine. It wasn’t the same, “I love you baby, you are so hot” convo all the time. And I loved that.

MICHELLE: Oh yes. So amazing. Again, it was natural. I felt like I was watching two real people fall in love. In a very real way. They were friends first because of her connection to his family and it was so beautiful watching all of that develop.

So speaking of family- I fell in love with his sister Sarah. I won’t spoil it too much but she’s special in many ways and she just touched my heart. It was as sweet as this gif:

PEPPER: OMG. That is another reason why I loved this book so much. Almost every character was so unconventional from the normal romance book. And it makes it so real and so God damn unforgettable.

MICHELLE: I know. The only character I could not get behind was her cousin Eva. Even when I think the author wanted her to be redeemed…by then I was just so over her I was like:

PEPPER: Yes. I effing hated her. A couple of times I dropped my kindle and was like “what the mother hugging what??” over some of the shit that came out of her mouth.

And one more thing I want to say is that I LOVED LK’s witty insertion of pop culture into the book. Like the Chris/Liam Hemsworth comment and all the Harry Potter references. Just so funny and quick witted. I loved it all.

MICHELLE: Agree. Sometimes the pop culture references don’t work in books or just seem cheesy but they were done seamlessly here.

PEPPER: YES! Now go get this book. NOW. Get rid of your TBR for one day. and - GET. THIS. BOOK!!

MICHELLE: I know. We could go on and on about this book forever. But I think we really just want you to go and buy it.

This is easily one of the best books we have read all year. So waste no more time and get it now!
