“In its purest form love is self-sacrificing, eternal, selfless, enduring, truthful, forgiving and indulgent. It also feels an awful lot like a kick to the stomach when you try to fight it!“All Everleigh Carsen wanted to do was complete her final semester at Hensley University and begin the life she carefully planned.
When a wave of violent crime seizes campus, Everleigh is persuaded to attend a school sponsored self-defense seminar by her best friend, where she meets volunteer instructor, Hunter Charles. After Everleigh’s biting sarcasm induces Hunter to eject her from class, a tempestuous relationship is born.
Everleigh is determined to forget the striking man, but fate–that fickle shrew–continuously intervenes. Unable to escape him, she declares Hunter an enemy combatant. The only complication… Hunter is resolutely pursuing vindication…by any means necessary. Verbal warfare ensues, and despite Everleigh’s ingenious efforts, in Hunter, she has finally found her equal.
Only For You is a compelling tale of friendship, desire, and redemption-brimming with intelligent characters, witty dialogue, unexpected twists, profound sorrow, unfettered hope, and love’s unassailable perseverance.
Note: Although this is series, each novel can be read as a stand alone.
PEPPER & MICHELLE’S JOINT REVIEW
MICHELLE: I. loved. this. book.
PEPPER: OMG, me too!!
MICHELLE: I immediately went to Genna’s page to commence stalking because this book was AMAZING.
PEPPER: EEK - another author to stalk!! I bet GennRu will love that
. But seriously, I am so happy we found her, another new to us AND amazing author!!
MICHELLE: Right?! …And I am DYING to read Sam’s story now. Like right now.
PEPPER: I know! I want that book yesterday. I can’t wait for Sam’s story.
MICHELLE: Anyways- Only For You. So damn good. You know that for me the thing that takes a book from “oh I liked that” to “OMG MY LIFE WAS NOTHING UNTIL I READ THIS BOOK” is when the female lead is strong and likeable.
Everleigh (Ev)is so kick ass I can’t even stand it. I might be more in love with her than I am with Hunter. First of all, she’s hilarious. She’s witty and sarcastic and I love her.
PEPPER: OMG that GIF is everything. Nothing could be more perfect for Ev. She is so mother hugging amazing. The best part about this entire book, was that the people kept the melodramatics to a very low minimum. Ev was so mature and well versed. I never once rolled my eyes at what she said or how she acted. Pure perfection!
And her obsession with coffee! Loved. It.
MICHELLE: And then there’s Hunter. I just can’t with how much I want to jump his bones throughout this book.
PEPPER: Ah Hunter. Man. I have a hard time wrapping my thoughts about how I feel about him. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I loved him. He was just so intense. Like, it was comical at times. And it wasn’t your traditional “alpha-intense”. Although he was alpha in his own right. I think it definitely all comes together at the end. But he was a very complex character for me. And I have to applaud GennRu for that, because we get a lot of cookie cutter hot overprotective dudes. But Hunter - he is in his own category for me. I’m genuinely intrigued by him. I’m like:

MICHELLE: OOO, yes, I can see what you are saying! So, I love the relationship these two have. For reasons that we don’t know until the bitter end- Hunter and Ev can’t actually be together. So they can really only be friends BUT it’s clear on both ends that they are way more than friends. And even though it has to be that way, you just want to be like:
PEPPER: Oh God! The sexual tension was God Damn unbearable. But honestly, this was such a great read that I wasn’t like, OK, I’m done with this, if you don’t hook up, then fuck you. And I was never really over it, you know, over them. The chemistry was amazing, but it didn’t feel like when Frodo would not through the ring in the damn fire. It was perfect for me. Perfect, I tell you.
MICHELLE: Yes, totally! For some reason it totally works that they have this long, drawn out relationship. It is just perfect for them. There is no way you can do anything but fall in love with these two as they fall in love with each other. It’s just perfect.
PEPPER: Shall we use the word perfect again, just to get our point across??

MICHELLE: HaHa, but really there isn’t a better word..
The supporting cast in this book is amazing- and when I say that I really just mean Sam and Griffin. Honestly, I don’t think I have been so invested in the story line of the supporting characters. The end of the book really set up the reader to be totally invested in their story, especially where Sam is concerned. That douche that Sam dates in the book though can burn in hell for all I care. Seriously.
PEPPER: YES!! Sam is getting the favorite best friend of the year award. Actually, I feel like Ev and Sam were equally amazing best friends. Their relationship - now take me seriously here - may have gotten me misty eyed a few times. Not going to lie. It was a beautiful relationship. For so many reasons. I almost loved their friendship as much as Ev and Hunter. GennRu did a killer job on the supporting story! Amazing set up for book 2, one of the best, I must say.
And to agree with you in regard to the boyfriend from hell and a lot of the other dudes in this book, be aware:

MICHELLE: Yes! Major DBagery going on!
This book does have a little mystery element in it which I love even though it can be really hard to read some of the terrible stuff that happens, especially towards the end. This was me during a very pivotal moment in the book:

PEPPER: I know!, I tell you, I got misty eyed a few times throughout this book. But I did love the mystery/intrigue. It kept me reading for sure!
MICHELLE: I thought the ending was perfect and I swooned so hard. But that epilogue gave me a lady boner. Not because it gave us such an in depth insight to Hunter and Everleigh but because it summed up the feel of the book so well. This wasn’t just about the love between a man and woman. It really was about love in a greater sense- friendship, romantic, new love, selfish love, selfless love- seriously there was so much happening and it was all so well done. But that epilogue really just wrapped up all the love Everliegh had for the people in her life and it was the most amazing way to end this book.
PEPPER: You know who has a lady boner right now? ME! Because of how you described the epilogue. I could have never said it so… perfectly
All I can say to add is: The epilogue was EVERYTHING! And also got us super stoked for book 2.
So, as you can tell we are gushing. We loved this book. It was PERFECT!!! Honestly, GennRu is one of our new favs. Go get this book, so so worth it!
PS - Once you read the book, go check THIS out. It is a free 20 page look into what Hunter thought when he first met Everleigh-its really cute.
