All publicity is good publicity, right? Unless you’re recent college grad Ellie Wagner and an embarrassing video of you and your boyfriend goes viral. Every man in your life abandons you, but who knew a one-minute clip of your latest doomed relationship would brand you a slut, prevent you from getting your perfect job, and force you to keep doing the one thing you swore you’d never do again…live with your mother.
But staying with mom and her latest boy-toy (is this husband number four or five?) until your life turns around might not be all bad. Especially when you fall – literally – at the feet of a sexy, green-eyed stranger who offers you freedom and a life of luxury on a gold-rimmed platter.
There’s only one little problem – the man of your dreams is none other than Mason Nash, the latest hip-hop star busting up the music charts. Fame and fortune are his calling cards and he’s vying to steal the show on a new reality TV series that will catapult him into mainstream stardom. Hello spotlight.
The man behind the famous persona is perfect for Ellie in every way, but can she overcome the ugly pitfalls that come with Mason’s celebrity status? Or will she be forced to choose between the man she loves and the independent life she longs for? After all, fame and fortune aren’t always what they seem and not all publicity is good publicity…

PEPPER & MICHELLE’S JOINT REVIEW
MICHELLE: So we were given the chance to read Rumor Has It thanks to the author providing us a copy. Now- we happen to love EGrace for a variety of reasons- the most important being that she loves David Gandy as much as we do.
PEPPER: I know, and we don’t post enough about him for her to stay happy, that’s for sure
MICHELLE: Anyways- the book.
PEPPER: Yes!!
MICHELLE: I like that this is not your typical rocker romance. In fact the “rocker” is actually a rapper. I picture Macklemore. Which I am totally ok with because I find him to be quite sexy.

PEPPER: OMG!! Yes. Totally Macklemore. Or let’s be honest Eminem with the sad back story and not so much the cra cra insanity!! But in any case. Sexy hip hop artist. HOT!!
MICHELLE: Agreed! And, Ellie is something else. I love her journey of self discovery along the way in this book. It takes her a while but she gets there. She had an embarrassing YouTube video go viral (though let me say- I don’t understand why that video would ever make her look bad- but whatevs- it’s part of the story) and so she finds herself unable to get a job she wants in her field.
PEPPER: I liked Ellie. She definitely took care of herself. I have to agree with you about the YouTube video. I was thinking it was going to be much worse than what really happened, I wish she would have done some bodily harm on that video!! Kind of like:

MICHELLE: Totally!! So I love how she literally stumbles upon Mason while she is working for a real estate company. She has no idea who he is and he finds that refreshing. And he thinks she’s hot so that helps.
PEPPER: I loved how they met! So cute and sexy. And I always really like it with “famous people books” when the not famous person is like:

I loved how Ellie was like, bitch your music sucks. HAHA, I loved it so much!!
MICHELLE: Lol! So they embark on a relationship which I thought moved at a realistic pace. They didn’t jump into bed first thing but she also didn’t wait forever and I actually found that refreshing.
PEPPER: Yes, it really was perfect how their relationship progressed. There was some unwanted (by me) angst pretty early on, but of course Mason eradicated that. Real. Quick.
MICHELLE: So, I really enjoyed the first half of this book a lot. The sex was hot. Both characters were likeable- it all just worked.
But, When Mason has to go back to “real life” and start working, things get a little predictable for me. It’s not that it was bad- it just wasn’t new. I thought that it was nice that Ellie and Mason themselves didn’t have too much trouble adjusting to their relationship with a little more publicity and I even thought that EGrace did some creative things with having Ellie take control of her YouTube fame in a positive way.
PEPPER: I mean, yes it was predictable, but at the same time when shit hits the fan, I was really surprised by Mason’s reaction. And I wanted to crotch punt him. Hard. Like:

MICHELLE: So I felt the predictability came in the form of Mason’s agent who only saw dollar signs and needed Ellie out of the picture. And also in the form of an ex girlfriend being made to look like a current fling.
PEPPER: OK, I agree with you there. A lot of the general “issues” were pretty standard to what we see in a romance novel.
MICHELLE: I actually got angry at Mason as well towards the end and even a little mad at Ellie. It was just that the way things played out were expected but I was hoping they wouldn’t happen.
PEPPER: God, I wanted to kick some serious asses at the end of this book. Idiots. All of them. I was like:

But, thank God EGrace saved us and made things all better!!
MICHELLE: Yes! even with all of that, I liked the ending and the book overall.
PEPPER: OMG! I loved the ending. So much. It really brought the book full circle.
MICHELLE: It really was sweet.
Definitely grab this book if you want a hip hop twist on the famous guy/regular girl romance. While the story line can be predictable at times, it is well written, has some good spots of humor and really hot sex so you can’t go wrong.
