Women are disappearing. What is happening when they step into The Light?
Nine months ago, Sara Adams awoke with no memory. The man holding her hand told her she’s a member of The Light, a tight-knit religious group led by the terrifying and charismatic Father Gabriel. As a woman in the community of The Light, her duty is to be unquestionably obedient and to submit to the will of her husband.
But as Sara’s memory starts to return and she remembers her past, she sees that everything she’s been told is a lie. The Light is an insidious and dangerous organization, and its corrupting influence reaches well beyond the confines of the remote campus where Sara is being held.
With everything at stake, Sara struggles to sort out her true memories from her indoctrination. The desire to escape consumes her, but who can she trust? And what other followers of The Light were forced into this life, brainwashed to believe they belonged? The more she remembers, the mort it becomes clear that Jacob, the man who calls himself her husband, is keeping shattering secrets of his own.
But Sara cannot flee alone, leaving innocents behind. She must fight to extinguish The Light.
MICHELLE’S REVIEW
***If you didn’t not read INTO THE LIGHT- do not start here! This will contain some spoilers of book 1.***
The story of Jacob and Sara continues. Sara spent the first book struggling after an accident struck her memory. She woke up as part of The Light- a cult led by Father Gabriel. Her husband Jacob was both harsh at times and loving and though everything was confusing- Jacob was a constant.
When her memory starts to resurface- shit gets crazy and then because Aleatha loves to leave us dangling off a cliff- we had to wait until book 2 to see what happens!

Well here we are and Aleatha didn’t disappoint. Without giving too much away, Jacob and Sara find themselves crossing paths once again. After they figure out that they are more on the same team than they thought, the two (especially Sara) must make a decision between freedom and doing what is right. Jacob’s secrets come out, but the idea of returning to The Light is not something that can be decided easily.

I love books about cults. I don’t know why but I find them fascinating. So naturally as a lover of those books combined with my love for Aleatha, I knew I was going to enjoy this series and it did not disappoint.
I want to just add that, as with any of her books, this is not a easy read. In this particular case there are a lot of themes that might be hard for some people to read but more importantly these books are very intricate. You cannot read this and not pay full attention to the story. So much will be happening and if you miss one detail you could miss a lot!

Personally that’s something I really like about Aletha’s writing. Her books are so detailed and complicated but in a way that puts together a wonderful story. If you are new to her books this series might be a good start since it is her shortest series.
